OFTEC enjoys successful visit to Limerick trade show

OFTEC attended the Heating Engineer Supplies (HES) trade show in Patrickswell, Limerick, in July. The event has gone from strength to strength in recent years, expanding beyond the HES yard and into the local community centre, where a range of trade talks and industry discussions took place.

HES is run by Charlie O’Neill. It provides high-quality products and services to the oil, gas and plumbing trades and has been in operation since 2010. The company is based out of an industrial estate in Patrickswell and a number of OFTEC members including Firebird, Grant, Warmflow and Worcester Bosch were in attendance alongside OFTEC.

David Blevings, OFTEC’s Ireland Manager, said: “The event provided a great opportunity to meet many existing OFTEC technicians, who were pleased to receive an OFTEC mug and catch up with the team. We also had a number of positive conversations with technicians who have recently completed their OFTEC oil installation and servicing training and were interested in joining our registration scheme. The Technician Field Guide proved to be a popular talking point, with many welcoming the practical and easy-to-use information it contains.

“We were also advised by technicians that many local authorities are now requesting OFTEC registration for service work carried out on their properties, with increasing numbers also requiring the Landlord Liquid Fuel Installation Check (CD12).

“The event was very well attended and, in a welcome bonus for an outdoor show in Ireland, took place under beautiful sunny skies, which helped create a great atmosphere throughout the day.”

One lucky attendee at the show was the winner of OFTEC Ireland’s raffle, receiving one year’s free registration to OFTEC. Kevin Finucance from Kemro Projects Ltd said: “My aim is to develop oil boiler servicing as an additional area of my business. I took OFTEC training to gain a deeper, professionally recognised understanding of oil-fired heating systems, and the course has strengthened my knowledge of boiler servicing, combustion analysis, fault finding and safe working practices.

“Winning free OFTEC registration was a fantastic added bonus. It gives me the opportunity to put my training into practice and also gives customers the reassurance of knowing their heating system is being serviced by someone working to recognised industry standards.”
